Beethoven

Well it's been a while sense I have tried to pick up the guitar. The pinched nerve in my left shoulder has been hampering my progress. Even when I go to tune was enough for me to put it back down and not try.

Anyway this his out of the music book I purchased in Vietnam while I was there. It was nice to pick out the melody and recognize the music. Right away I told myself after hearing what it was, I needed to be playing with the nylon string Silvertone (LOL, witch needed tuning). So I tried to get through it once with out a mistake without putting the guitar down (I did not)

8/20/08 Got the nylon string Yamaha out last night. Played Beethoven the 9th again, until I got pretty satisfied with my fingering. Not so much with my count, but I think the next step is to remember the whole piece first, LOL. A few pages into the same book I found another Beethoven piece that my wife likes, Fur Elise. I worked with it for about 10 minutes, but really did not even get the melody. It uses base notes and treble as passing notes in places and was complicated to get an ear for it. I like the idea, now I need to make it work. Then after my frustrating 10 minutes I went back to some good old twelve bar blues for a finish. It wasn't enough time put into power up the Fender and plus I would of needed to tune that up, LOL lazy.

PS; The guilt of not trying to work on my music/progress and just taking in what is being given on a post I made :). Cheers to good friends!!!

8/22/08 Had a pretty good practice last night before I exercised. Started with Beethoven's Fur Elise and yes I finally got the melody (in my head,LOL) after about 30 minutes. It is in the Allegro style, so the passing tones were throwing me for a loop. I was saying for a while there, "This is not right, LOL" it all good. Then went back to the Beethoven's 9th and played through that a couple times before the shoulder started to get sore. I went for a walk and came back to the house and played or tried to play them again, but better. Speaking of, I think I will put the capo to work for the first time. I don't even have the capo out of the packaging yet, what 6 years now.
Update 6:25pm, Fur Elise music and my wife wanted to go walking with me tonight :) More guitar playing time then.

8/23/08 practiced for 30 minutes last night, before my wife got home. I did find the capo in the packaging still, but further back on the shelf I had another one out of the box, LOL. "How many of these things do I have?" asking myself. Just two, thank goodness. The pitch was different from yesterday, but I got used to it and noticing my thumb wanting to ride up top creating my fingers not being perpendicular to the fret board. Maybe the cause of the capo being on the third fret or not paying that much attention to it before?
